The Zeg-Zug Waldorf Association was founded by 14 devoted parents in June 2015.
The primary purpose of our Association was to establish the very first Waldorf School in Zugló, the 14th district of Budapest, one of the biggest districts in the city. A little more than a year of hard dedicated work, we managed to achieve our primary goal: in September 2016 the first class of our Waldorf Elementary School (The Zugoly Waldorf Általános és Alapfokú Művészeti Iskola ) started with 26 children.

The Association is the main governing body of the Zugoly Waldorf Elementary School by law, helps to manage all aspects of the schools operation and supports its development.

Our Association’s important aim is to promote the principles and philosophy of the Waldorf pedagogy to support the mission of the School. This is a constant challenge and we are working on this intentionally and lovingly. Our Association is led by the Board of Trustees including 5 voting members. The Trustees are leading the daily operational work closely with the College of Teachers and the Mandate Groups.

The members of our Association are all non-paid volunteers and coming from different areas of life – they share their skills and life experiences accordingly to serve the school.  All the members are working in small operational groups (Mandate Groups) and these individual groups are working cooperatively. Often we receive help from parents who volunteer to assist us, and all together we are giving our time and energy to create a vibrant sustainable school community that meets the needs of students and families.

All our decisions emerge from a process of discussions based on respectful communication and trust.  We believe the Zugoly Waldorf School grows and develops through conscious agreement and shared vision.
